My current work place uses Windows XP and it sucks. I can't be productive on it anymore.

Windows 7 IMO will be nothing but succesful. So much better than Vista even in RC stages. It is THE Best Windows OS I have used to date. I am no fanboy but im not sure how Windows 7 will stumble like Vista ...

That's probably because it is Vista SP2 with a new skin. I don't buy the whole, "it's only a beta" argument. It's really 3-4 years old.

Oh no I agree that it was built off the back of Vista. However I cannot ignore the vast improvments MS has made to the code. The general stability of Win 7 is IMO far superior to Vista and they sorted out the memory hogging thats for sure.

But most companies are hurting now. Deploying lots of new PCs to employees is not in the cards for most businesses through 2010. And certainly cash-strapped consumers aren't going to run out and buy new PCs just for the pleasure of using Windows 7, especially when the existing tools are "good enough".
Unfortunately this is how it is for most companies today. Granted I would think that most companies have a Technet/MSDN account and the IT's can try out and see for themselves if Windows 7 would be a good upgrade option for their companies given the majority of hardware they are using. IF it meant they only needed some extra memory for some machines or new hardware was planned for the company anyway, then yes it would make sense to switch to Windows 7.

Though every company is in their own unique situation and that will determine when they move to Windows 7. What date some random person writing an article says will be when people upgrade is just an irrelevant guess.

I'd say it's more successful than XP already. By this I mean pre-sales have topped XP pre-sales.
