Default [RO] Gmail Feature Saves E-Mail Embarrassment

Quote:
On Tuesday, Google's Gmail Labs team introduced a new feature dubbed "Got the wrong Bob?" to help users catch their embarrassing e-mail faux pas before they are sent to the wrong recipient in a group message.

The free Web-based e-mail service launched the feature as a preemptive warning for people who appear to be ready to accidentally send a Gmail message to an unintended recipient, according to Google engineers Ari Leichtberg and Yossi Matias.

In a joint blog post, they asked, "When's the last time you got an email from a stranger asking, 'Are you sure you meant to send this to me?' and promptly realized that you didn't?."

Did a quick search, didn't see this posted, etc.

It's 10 times worse when it's not a stranger who gets the message.

Unrelated, in WoW /r is a quick way to reply. Well, one of my girl/friends on there must not have realized I had spoke to her last and not her bf. The details of that message would break the TOS of the entire internet. I laughed about that for weeks.

Somehow I don't think the internet, a place that specializes in videos of people doing unspeakable things, would be caught off guard

OT though, this is a great feature and i'm surprised nobody has thought of it before

I'm still waiting for the smarter attachment feature that AOL is the only one to use. If you use the word "attach" or any variation on it, and you don't attach anything to the e-mail, then proceed to click the "send" button, it will tell you that you used the word "attach" but did not attach anything and ask if you still want to send the e-mail, or cancel and edit the e-mail.

No, that's not what it does. It just waits 5 seconds before sending it... why overcomplicate things?
