Default [hcidesign] MemTest 4.0

Quote:
MemTest is a RAM reliability tester that runs under Windows. It evaluates the ability of your computer to store and retrieve data accurately. A correctly functioning computer should be able to do both these tasks with 100% accuracy day in and day out. A computer that fails these tests, perhaps because of old hardware, damaged hardware, or poorly configured hardware, will be less stable and crash more often. Even worse, it will become even less stable over time as corrupted data is written to your hard disk.

By running MemTest you can ensure that your computer's RAM is correctly functioning. It is wise to test this when you buy a new computer, install new RAM, or change the configuration of your machine (for instance, to overclock it). Are you the sort of user who likes to push the performance of your machine to the edge? Relying upon whether your machine will boot after your new BIOS tweaks is a poor way to determine the safety of your new settings. Use MemTest as a true test of stability.

New in version 4.0: The MemTest Deluxe bootable CD now supports 32-bit and 64-bit CPUs.
New in version 3.8: The Pro version now supports command line control of how much RAM to test and when to stop testing, and can automatically spawn multiple copies of MemTest to maximize the amount of RAM tested.

Multithreading has no bearing on RAM. All RAM access is serialized.

What does multi-threaded have to do with memory testing?

The OS uses memory. This application cannot test the memory that is currently held by the OS.

Precisely.

Who cares if its multi-threaded if the test is to stress memory.

The point of memtest is to make sure the memory doesn't corrupt anything, booting to windows completely defeats that purpose. Take it from some one who has twice corrupted MBR's and nearly lost tons of data, when unsure of memory stability, stay out of the OS!
