Downloading my Windows 7 Professional copy now. Purchased it for £30 using the University student discount scheme. Pre-ordered on 1st October and have been just waiting for the release to download.

Cannot decide whether to install on laptop or main system. I havn't tried windows 7 on anything by my main rig and family setup so can anyone inform me how well it runs on low spec laptop? Vista Basic just about runs on this laptop so I installed XP on it.

What are the restrictions on the use of the OEM copies?

I believe they are tied to one machine so if you re-build or upgrade your mobo you'll need a new license.

way ahead of this, got pro X64 free from school weeks ago

i talked to the guy at costco last night and he was like "Win7 WUT O_o" then another worker came and said that is why they took the laptops off the shelf, to stock shelfs with windows 7 based laptops.
