Lol, the preview of Win 7 and the discussion in the other thread didn't convince you before?

i've heard nothing but compatibility issues. but i guess it was with the rc builds.

but now, i'm starting to dislike vista coz it keeps on accessing my hdd even at idle with almost zero cpu usage. i want a very snappy experience

Long read, yet interesting as all AnandTech articles usually are.
I guess, Microsoft with its Windows 7 will keep all its promise and the story of all these 3 tales will have a happy ending :-)

Yeah, maybe. The only issues I recall were with the RC1 builds, or maybe it was the beta...and only with a few pieces of software, e.g. Daemon Tools and Skype didn't work back then.

I've been on Win7 for just a few days now, but have had zero compatibility issues with anything so far...as smooth a clean-install experience as I could have hoped for. Still getting used to the new Taskbar, but am loving Aero Peek and (especially) Libraries.

I'm not a windoze guy..

Im really not.

But truthfully, IF, I could get win7 to LOOK DIFFERENT.
To ditch that Vista-esque appearance (for that of Windows 2000, or unthemed XP), I would use it.

What do you call a program that installs 3GB of undeletable files on you flash drive... A virus.. NO Mac! Really it happened to me! I just wanted to print a file and the only computer that could print was a mac book and just putting it in caused Mac to add 3GB of hidden undeletable files... (Thats why you can always recover files, theres a back-up thats bigger than them and your Mac can't see hidden files!)

[QUOTE=VulcanDragon;7493407]Hmm, this isn't what I thought it was going to be...I was expecting a performance tuning guide. Oh well.

My rig got a lowly 5.9 Windows Experience score...something's wrong, everything was in the 7.x's except my drive got a 5.9. But it's a Velociraptor, not some old 5400rpm junker! I'll have to try again tonight when I get home, I scheduled a defrag to run last night. Or I wonder if it's using the wrong drive...one would think that the C: drive would be the "primary" drive to Windows; but it is actually the third in my BIOS, behind two 7200rpm drives.[/QUOTE

Yeah its a shame that one component drags your score down... Im in the same boat

Seems to me like for real this should have been vista sp3.. I can't believe they are charging the prices they are for this when clearly it barely out performs vista except maybe in battery life for laptops. I will be sticking with my vista ultimate 64.
