I live at college, one of the places people say is the most susceptible to the spread of H1N1 (one case already confirmed here). I'm not getting the H1N1 vaccine or the seasonal flu vaccine...why? I'm a year-round athlete, take care of my body, eat healthy foods...I regularly exercise, enjoy long walks on the beach, etc..
I came down with the cold a few weeks back but kicked it. I won't be getting either vaccine this year. With regards to internet usage, even if I had to stay home, I'm constantly surfing the 'net at school, so my internet usage wouldn't decrease or increase either way.

Same here, although I haven't been working out as much as I want to, damn home work.
But seriously guys. We need to stop the fear mongering, sure theres a chance you can get swine flu, theres also a chance that I'll get bitten by a bug and get: Westnile, Lime Disease, Malaria, etc... In the end, we take a risk every time we walk outside our damn doors or even get out of bed. Will you cower in fear, or will you live your life the way you always have? I know which one I choose.

The way I see it, I have a much higher chance of dying from being struck while biking to class (crossing a main intersection) than coming down with (and dying from) H1N1 or the regular Flu. In addition, I could also be struck by lightning, have a telephone pole come down on me or drown while rowing, have a heart attack or any combination of the millions of possible ways I could die within the next two hours while I'm at practice. So yeah, the way the media blows things out of proportion just to get a story pales in comparison to the way my life is.

Most people aren't very important and do not work at overly technical jobs where a high degree of mobility and connectivity is needed. I don't think McDonalds needs to video conference all of its sick employees. Therefore, I am skeptical that the Internet would come to a halt if 40% of America was sick at home.
Does a CEO really NEED to make 100 mil a year? Do they NEED private jets? People at the top of companies aren't more "important" than anyone else, they just have the luxury of spending whatever they want.

Bingo. I checked the stats about a month ago: H1N1 had killed 2200 people worldwide. Out of 6 billion. I'm guessing, but I think the mortality rate from a hangnail has got to be pretty close to that. /sarcasm In the US, 36,000 die each year from the regular flu. RUN!

The media love drama, and they'll perpetuate anything that plays to it. I've never gotten a flu shot, and I'm not getting the H1N1 vaccine. Flu shots don't prevent the flu; there are thousands of strains of influenza and each person would need a shot for that specific strain in order to prevent it. They try to guess every year which one will be the worst one. Washing your hands before you touch your face is far more effective than a flu shot, of any kind.

And I think I can count that as a +1 too.

Grand total = 3

Anyone else up for just living life the way it was meant to be lived?

This is actually good guys. Because I think as we look back on the recession(although no one will remember it anyway) we'll determine that the swine flu helped us out because it got the media off scaring people into not buying stuff and instead scaring them into not living their lives. You see how if no one talks about the recession it magically gets better. Hmmm.
