Default [TheAge]Making peace with victims of Vista

Quote:
A COMPUTER that "just works" — that's Microsoft's ambitious promise with the new Windows 7 operating system, released last week.
Windows 7 is Microsoft's replacement for the oft-maligned Windows Vista, which was plagued with issues when launched three years ago. Vista has since matured into a stable operating system but it failed the initial "just works" test and many Windows users opted to stay with the tried and true Windows XP or look further afield to alternatives such as Linux or Apple's Mac OS X 10.5, aka Leopard.
Windows might run more than 90 per cent of the world's PCs but Vista failed to make its mark with both home and business users. Retailers such as Dell were forced to reintroduce the option of XP after a massive customer backlash against Vista
Dell make good monitors but their computers are far from spectacular.

Windows 7 could be Microsoft's last chance to deliver an operating system that "just works". If it fails, competitors are waiting in the wings.

Riiight...who has 90% of the marketshare Seriously! Vista wasn't that bad and did this idiot forget xp and how successful its been

Am I the only one who thinks the sales pitch "This version works!" isn't exactly the product-moving tag line MS thinks it is?

I mean, fine, the new Windows does things better; but is reminding customers of past failures the most efficient form of advertising?

Vista had a lot of serious issues when it launched, but those have been for the most part all fixed up.

If you have modern hardware Vista isn't that bad. Also, just wait and see what happens when they roll out SP3. They are going to really refine it with that service pack, bringing in some under the hood stuff from Windows 7.

Don't forget, a lot of people hated XP when it first came out, saying it was big and slow and couldn't use their old hardware, ect.

I'm really impressed by Windows 7. It has the aesthetics of
Vista and the usability and response time of Windows Express.

Just a way of letting people know that they've learnt from their mistakes, and it's back to the successes of XP.

So was I the only user who didn't have a single problem in Pre-SP1 Vista?

Nope, I didn't either. It has "just worked" for me for the last 3 years.

And half of the people *****ing about pre-SP1 Vista never even used it, I couldn't believe the amount of complaining I heard the first year Vista was out, it was ridiculous then, and it is still ridiculous.

Vista was a bigger leap from XP than Win7 is from Vista.

Making ammends with "victims" of Vista -- who had problems 3 years ago with it - as if those people haven't updated Vista in 3 years and are still having trouble with it?
