Default [SC] Facebook wins $711 million in damages against spam king

Quote:
A U.S. District Court in San Jose has awarded Facebook $711 million for being victimized by a prolific spammer.

Judge Jeremy Fogel on Thursday ordered the self-anointed spam king Sanford Wallace to pay the damages for accessing user accounts without authorization and spamming "friends" through messages and "wall" posts, Sam O'Rourke, senior counsel at Facebook, said Thursday night on the company's blog.

Oh, nice, maybe they can use this money to stop malware from infiltrating everybody I know who owns a computer.

"My computer is broken."
"What happened?"
"I don't know."
"What do you do with it?"
"Nothing but Facebook."
"Oh."

And then I check, and quite literally, there is nothing used on the PC except Facecrap. They're either terrible at protecting their users, or their users are generally complete morons. (I despise social networking sites and stay away from them at all costs...)

Yeah, but most people don't come here to stalk/investigate a prospective employee and for the most part, do not come here to participate in popularity contests.

Unless I'm compleeeeetely mistaken...

There was a small period of time prior to MySpace and Facebook where people maintained friendships. Also, there was an even BRIEFER period where the Internet did not exist and people still had friendships - although I hear that was a massive headache!

I don't know why people hate on Facebook so much... It actually helps reconnect with people.
