Default [SoftPedia] Windows 8, and So It Begins

Quote:
With Windows 7 wrapped up, Sinofsky was upgraded to the President position from senior vice president of the Windows and Windows Live engineering group, but just as it was the case for Windows 7, Windows 8 will be developed in accordance with his vision. With Sinofsky at the helm of the Windows 8 project, Osterman could even expect the same development experience as for Windows 7.

Of Course not, how can you expect information about something that has not been created yet, they could share there ideas of course but that's quite boring tbh and could change during the development process

interesting read though

well snap. not sure if this is good or bad? i love W7... but i was kinda hoping for a true "knock my socks off" release by W8..

If I understand this guys goals (based on W7) not too much will change feature wise. but probably at the kernel level to the extremes.

For example. I did read a while back they may be working on a 128-bit OS along with intel. this would probably be at the kernel level only. (suggesting that things such as calculator notepad and such will all be capped at 64-bit until a later patch/upgrade) If I am wrong on his 'goals' we might see the entire os redone for 128-bit (assuming this rumor was true) (If I recall, the rumor also said something about the support for 16/32-bit being discontinued?)

I am all for moving forward that is for sure. But I question this: "Does the windows-world of the near future require/desire 'new features/etc' or 'improved features/etc' compared to what W7 offers?" I wish I could answer this, as I would love to know for certain if M$ is going in the right direction.

</wall of text>

On another note.. I wonder if the arrival of W8 will finally bring a new file system? (maybe even ban the wide usage of the windows registry for general apps, and force software makers to go to .ini files or such?) I mean.. the registry has became such a hell over the years.. software writes data to it when installing etc.. but you uninstall it.. what happens? the data stays there... wth? (can you say bad security/privacy/performance??)

They always do blather about the next one (or 2), its just so they know we know they still exist ... um yeh xD

+ im sure its good if they release ideas so they can get feedback ie the no 32 bit would be a heated topic which MS have to get right
