Default [TI.UK]Illegal downloaders spend the most on music

Quote:
People who illegally download music from the internet also spend more money on music than anyone else, according to a new study. The survey, published today, found that those who admit illegally downloading music spent an average of £77 a year on music – £33 more than those who claim that they never download music dishonestly.

Interesting. I suppose it makes a little sense though, You get to "test" the songs to see if you like it before you buy it. Let's face it; the 30-second itunes clip can sometime not be very helpful, they sometimes choose the worst bit of a song.

I laugh every time I see one of these threads because there is no way to prove that it is true.

And that sum would be even higher if they stopped trying to label people who listen to the music before they buy it, without any cost to the producer, as pirates.

Exaggerated example of where the 3 euros come from:

Person 1: Buys a CD.

Person 2: Buys the same CD, but remembers a good song he downloaded from a band called "Umaflaga" he never knew before and buys their CD as well.

Any more likely to go out and buy it if we never "tried" out the music?

I figured it was going to be one those articles where spending ment paying a fine. But this does make sense as a lot of people including me use downloading as a way to rent. Most stuff, program or game wise is off my computer within a day. If I like it I inquire it further if not it is simply uninstalled.

Makes sense to me, I only buy albums of the bands I care about and pirate the rest.

I proudly own every Rammstein Album, and the first 4 System of a Down albums.

So you support the bands you like and just screw the others, yeah that's something to be proud of.
