Dumb user = virus infection

Smart user = secure system.

Has nothing to do with the OS.

Those comments by Sophos seem designed only to put the scare into to people so they run out and buy Sophos security products for their Windows 7. As stated in the full article, their testing methodology leaves a lot to be desired. That being said, if you don't run some kind of anti virus and/or firewall on your Windows 7 build, then you're an idiot IMO.

NO AMOUNT OF CODE WILL FIX STUPID!!!

Whether it be *nix or Windows, stuff will happen if the user isn't smart enough to not give every program he sees root access.

But no one has, so OSX and linux are inherently more secure. Any way you slice it, that's the way it is. All these would of's, should of's, could of's and if's and's or but's from your guys are kinda funny.

Because a Windows user is smart enough to never do that. I'm guessing that you've come across something like that before...on your windows machine...

Actually Snow Leopard has some sort of built in malware protection.

This pretty much sums up the everything. No matter what system your on. But like people have said before, just play it smart and you'll be good. I've been using computers for 2 decades and have yet to get a virus..knock on wood(although some of the computer use was before we got dialup). Some people can't go 2 months.
