This situation is pretty alarming, especially the apparent lack of any requirement of probable cause.

Terrorism has been used since the beginning of man kind. We terrorize people for the good or the bad, thats up to the terrorist to decide.

I think this is part of the solution. Another part is to really educate people that these things are happening and that every individual is accountable for the eventual outcome. Furthermore, those same individuals need to understand the impact and implications on their individual lives of treaties such as ACTA. Luckily dialogue in our countries can be very powerful, as long as it is executed properly and the message is communicated clearly. Yes, the special interests will always try to put public relations experts (i.e., spin doctors) on things to make everything sound in favor of their argument, but by educating people on these issues we enable them to see the sub-context and properly evaluate the situation as well as course of action required to create change.

I seriously don't care about probable cause. The internet doesn't work with probable cause, they just need to go out and bring an end to rampant piracy.

If ACTA passes it will likely result in the demise of the free Internet as we know it. The treaty effectively forces ISP's to be content police -- this means they will have to (by law) use DPI technologies to look at each and every packet customers send across the Internet just to make sure nothing "illegal" is in them. Not only will this result in our prices being raised dramatically, it will also result in a massive slowdown of our bandwidth.
ACTA benefits NO ONE except the MAFIAA. They sure have been working overtime paying off our politicians. With ACTA and the Net Neutrality stuff going on at the same time, these are extremely important times for the future of the Internet. If ACTA passes and Net Neutrality fails, we are screwed.

Maybe someone should start going through all of our mail too. There are certainly a lot of bootleggers selling things on EBay. Wouldn't want to ignore that possibility either.

1 step closer to having a triumvirate controlling the internet.
![]() free exchange of ideas is the most dangerous thing to people in power (both political and financial). the internet is their enemy.
