i think people seam to forget that the people that make games and other software are doing it for a living and that you have to r ember company's don't start off with millions of $$$ and its not a endless supply of cash.

the only difference from piracy and stealing is that you don't get caught and every ones knows its stealing cause when you don't buy it you Steal it simple.
You sir just started a flame war, but I must agree with you.

The problem its a hugely anonymous and victimless crime (in terms of being able to see the effect of piracy). Piracy won't go away, it's a fact. So, the market needs to change.

yeah soft company's are going to need to start making big changes if there is going to be a future in making software.

or better yet a world wide law change would really help solve the problem

A world wide law change wouldn't do anything, mainly because the problem is so large, it can't be tracked. Piracy has existed since the "don't copy that floppy" era. It has only got bigger and badder despite stricter laws.

It's reached a stage where it has become a means of acquiring media that is easier than a lot of legal routes. Our generation were brought up on the Internet being a free place, right from the start. I remember using WinMX before I ever knew you could pay for music online.

It's a problem that has become so ingrained in our culture it won't go away. Companies need to adapt to the new market if they want to prosper.

Big sites like TPB are so decentralised now they'd be back up in a matter of hours. IIRC, there was a raid on their Swedish servers and a few hours later, the site was up again... albeit hosted in the Congo or something.

It could be a blessing in disguise. It's not the first time a company/ies has tried to black technology. There was a huge movement against home video recorders back in the day because they were worried it would hit VHS sales.

Imagine a world where home video recorder/players are illegal...
