Whilst I do like a good bit of being pedantic once in a while, I think common sense is better deployed here.

The majority of torrent sites are indeed used to harbour copyrighted material.

Torrent sites don't harbour any copyrighted material... hence the fact that they cannot be help accountable for people sharing such material with each other via torrents...

And again, pointless hating the tool... there are enough legal torrents to justify it as an awesome part of the internet...

I know that. I'm not against these sites at all. I'm just saying, what's the point in being pedantic, we all know the majority of torrent sites are there to aid the distribution of copyrighted data. Not all obviously, but a good deal of them. It's just common sense real

yep we sure do, i stated in a previous post that P2P technology wasn't illegal it's about what you do with it, i actually use the servers to download the stuff, not the torrent methods

just that most torrent sites and trackers are indeed used to share copyrighted software, music, films etc

the sites them selfs don't actually host this stuff, but they share the torrents that link to the computers that do

I'm glad Demonoid is on its way back, I recently downloaded the Kubuntu 9.10 release because torrenting it is so much faster than trying to download from the servers. Also PeerGuardian as we all know is good but has its problems, there is a newer blocker called PeerBlock which is based upon the same type engine as PeerGuardian but PeerBlock is maintained a whole lot better. Meh, I mainly use torrent sites for games I purchased long ago and have since lost the installation material... That and ongoing TV shows, easier than using my DVR.
