Windows 7 is a piece of heaven compared to this devil we call Windows Vista. However the devil would probably be better.
No.

Vista has worked perfectly for me, from the very first day it was released. It is much more secure than XP, and it ran just as fast as XP (for me at least).

So lets break down what you said. You said it is slow, you fail, it actually runs par with XP, and for me, it boots even faster than XP. The stuff it isn't compatible with has nothing to do with Vista, and everything to do with companies not releasing drivers. Windows 7 uses the same drivers by the way, so your argument on that one is junk.

Half of the newbs that claimed Vista was a resource hog were looking at their RAM usage and freaking out, when really Vista was just using 'superfetch' to cache things in memory. I did a test, actual memory use by Vista (pre SP1), was 340mb on my machine, which wasn't a whole lot more than my XP machine used.

i agree.

i wonder if people will realise just how similar the 2 are... not that Windows 7 is bad or unnecessary, but then Vista isn't as bad as it's made out to be either.

care to put experience or something quantitative into your arguments instead or ranting? if you're using a stripped version of XP then obviously it goes to show that you find XP bloated, and so Vista will be a lot worse: what do you expect? give vista a PC that meets or exceeds its minimum requirements and it will be the same speed or faster than XP on the same machine

and how is Vista unorganised? 7 uses the same file structure and if anything is more complicated due to libraries (for the non enthusiast user)

Vista was plagued from conceptin by a variety of issues, some its fault and others not:
- Bad marketing by itself, tech blogs, and Apple
- Poor customer experience caused by poor driver support and software compatibility, which is the fault of 3rd party companies but consumers are too stupid to realize that
- A significant departure from XP in terms of GUI and consumers felt they were being pushed outside their comfort zone since they were too stupid to adapt

Windows 7 is basically everything Vista should have been from LAUNCH and it also has the fortune of coming out late enough after Vista, that people have been made use to Vista's GUI. The move by MS to publicly promote letting everyone test W7 for free for such a long time was probably MS's greatest move and really helped easing in W7.

Vista wasnt bad it was horrible. There are bench after bench showing you.Microsoft was forced to allow Vista users to upgrade to XP.After some Sp fix's it managed to come up even with XP.Give it up.Put a bullet in Vista and window's ME.Ever product microsoft puts out isnt good.

To microsoft it is no longer how good they can make vista look, but how bad they can make it look so that we will run to windows 7 and steve ballmer can keep brushing his teeth with disposable platinum toothbrushes.

You mean Steve Ballmer right? Bill Gates has donated most of his riches to charity, medical improvement endeavours, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Please don't post things that you have no idea about.

I don't know, guys... How can something be cool if it doesn't have a bright, glowing Apple logo on it?
