I think some people didn't read.

This isn't a PC Sniffer, this is a tool to help the computer illiterate be able to better do there job when the use of computers is needed.

It's a tool to gather volatile information. Not a hard drive sniffer.

So what does it do exactly? You plug it into the usb drive and?

Does it look for unlicensed software? Illegal mp3's? How does it know if they are illegal or just ripped from your CD's? Does it search for illegal pron and how does it know what is and what isn't pron or illegal content? Does it just list gets all contents of your HDD? Does it search into rar archives? What if you'd store vulnerable data on hidden or linux ext3 partition? Does somehow run on it's own or has to be manually started? Will it run without administrative permissions? ...?

I'm not going to bother downloading it, but I'd appreciate any info on how it actually works and what's the fuzz about. Thanks.

From what I have heard, it has a dictionary of terms like crack, key, serial, teen, pedo, underage...

Keyword being volatile. Data that is lost when power is cut off.

Quote:
Law enforcement agencies around the world face a common challenge in their fight against cybercrime, child pornography, online fraud, and other computer-facilitated crimes: They must capture important evidence on a computer at the scene of an investigation before it is powered down and removed for later analysis. "Live" evidence, such as active system processes and network data, is volatile and may be lost in the process of turning off a computer. How does an officer on the scene effectively do this if he or she is not a trained computer forensics expert?

Yeah... 1.51 TB's. He got to keep the bounty, which was fine though. It doesn't seem hard to get your hands on, but considering I'm running Linux I don't have a whole lot of need to get it.

One thing is that they're making it easily available, another thing is that after looking through the possibilities with it, they decided that making an exception to their rules as they previously talked about could happen wasn't really going to happen anyway. It was against the rules from the start

So a COFEE investigation would go something like this...?

*Knock on the door*
Resident: Hello, how may I help you?
Officer: I'm with the xxPD, I need to see your computer
Resident: Right this way
*Plugs in COFEE and waits*
Officer: Thank you for your time

More than that. ~1.5TB. He's the 64'th highest uploader, and his average upload speed is 3x higher than anyone else.

They removed it though, for good reason.

EDIT: wow, alot of Whatter's here.
