The Ultrasone 550 PRO are considered the entry-level to the German manufacturer's Pro Line series of monitoring and reference headphones but to me it's a mid level, because there mid levels aren't worth the extra price. The lower/low-mid frequencies are well-developed in the 550. The highs tend to be lean although still quite present and there is Laid-back mid ranges that you typically have with ultrasones

Pro's

Closed headphones, isolate noise well
Very cheap in the headphone spectrum, between the pro 550s and the 150$ more 750's the 750s dont really feel worth it
Good sound quality
Clarity
Soundstage is phenomenal for closed headphones
Bass
Very durable
cool box/accessories

Cons

ANNOYING CORD
ANNOYING CORDDDDDDDDD RIP IT OFF
Can be uncomfortable very easily sometimes, it takes getting used to
I love dubstep, but i'm not a basshead, but for the week i used these headphones(i borrow'd about 5 different headphones and reviewed them for a week already burned in) the bass they have sometimes gave me headaches, for gaming and light music they were amazing, for dubstep they gave you that pleasant thump but for some reason i'm so used to basslight headphones they gave me headaches for that week after i used them for more then 2 hours but the weird thing is the m-50's didnt.
Ultras-ones customer service has trouble with English and will yell at you in german(pm me for a funny story on it)
Need a amp to pull the full sound from them

Soundstage 9/10
Bass 10/10
Mids 7/10
Highs 8/10
Durability 9.5/10
Earpads 7/10
Comfortable 6/10 at first, maybe 7/10-8/10 after a month

Overall 8.5

like Grado's these headphones are a headphone you'll eather love or hate

Straight out of the box: I thought i wasted 110 dollars, but after 2 days there bass improved and it started to sound great, the had great HEAD pounding bass, but these didn't give me a headache, i loved these for dubstep for rock for metal, but one thing these suck at is SOUNDSTAGE, i don't think there even is any when i use these headphones ultimatly if you need bass headphones, these are pretty great ones and i reccomend them for only that, they do have clarity still so with the high bass

Pro's

Great bass
collapsible
Cheap
Good clarity
Easily powered but benefits with amp
Comfortable depending if the earpads make your ears sweat or not
good cord
Good overall sound quality
Did i say thumping bass?
good immersion in movies
great customer service

Cons

IMO needs an amp for full sound even though low Ohm's
Soundstage blows, its like IEM soundstage, just +1 above that
been prone to being faked. ALOT
Jump around in price alot
For a little more money, you can get better headphones that excel at alot of things
Horrible for gaming to me if you want positional audio

Soundstage 3/10
Bass 11/10
Mids 8/10
Highs 10/10
Durability 8/10
Earpads 8/10

Overall 8.0

BUT ALWAYS TRY HEADPHONES BEFORE you BUY THEM, there is a high chance you'll eather love these or hate these

and that concludes my last review, next week i'll be able to have some denons/beyerdynamic headphones for a week or too. (my friend works at a music store and lets me borrow headphones, i have to pay his price but aslong as i bring them back they way he gave them to me i get my money back

so if you want some more headphone review PM me and i'll see if he has them

I got the PRO550 as well, and the damn cord is so annoying.

If I use a cord extension, will the sound quality deteriorate? And which brand should I get?
