Default X-Fi Xtrememusic... or is it...?

Hi,

I bought on ebay what was supposedly a Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic card. It was in refurbuished condition and came with only the card and driver disk.
However, when i recieved it and installed it, there were a few things that were either missing or strange. Basically, on my friends computer (Bisley_bob), his X-Fi XtremeMusic has Dolby DTS options in the Creative Audio Console whilst mine doesnt... Also, when i look my card up in anything like Everest, DxDiag (Any hardware reporting application), it lists it as a: "Creative CA20K1 X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity Audio Processor" whereas his appears as a "Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic/Platinum...". If they are the same card, why are they different?
The last thing is that after the card name, his says "BB00", whilst mine says "CC00". Is this just the revision, or does it mean something else?

Thanks!

Do you have a gold bracket and a black PCB board on your X-Fi? If you do than it's at least an Xtrememusic or better. Also, are you using the drivers from the disk? If you are, I'd update them to the newest ones.

It has a gold plated back, full size black PCB, latest drivers from Creative, 4 ports and a midi conenction thing. Looks the bus, but no where on the software does it say XtremeMusic or anything.

That's okay, don't worry about it. Mine doesn't say it either (Platinum is just an Xtrememusic packaged with the breakout box). In all menus and in control panel it just says SB X-Fi Audio [9C00]

And yours should have Dolby and DTS options in your console. Try looking harder

Where in the console does it have the options?

Plus, what does the [CC00] bit mean? revision or version?

Make sure you sandpaper the hole, and then put some U rubber over it to avoid sharp edges. Put some grease around the newly drilled hole, and then screw your computer, screw it hard. Maybe install some UV lights and turn em up to indicate that your computer is also excited.

Right, thanks. Still looking for the Dolby options... looked through every tab and every mode. It doesn't really matter tho, probably won't use it!

the Xtreme Music model number is SB0460. There will be a sticker on the back of the card that will tell you the model #
