Well, though multiple cards is certainly an option, though with some handywork you can have the best of both worlds. Check out the X-Fi modding thread in this section of the forums, or if you don't feel up to it yourself, soloz2 and a few other folks will mod the card for you.

The X-Fi cards are very good, both for gaming and otherwise. I have an friend who is a big audiophile (I would guess he has 16k ALBUMS), and he would love to have an X-Fi (he uses a laptop, so he cant get one).

Im looking at keeping my cards stock...just incase something goes wrong with them..the plus side is that with audio cards they can last a while because how much could really change in the sound industry....the would just get marganlally better...any suggestions for a good music card...one of the best with in a resonable price...i dont wana spend $400 on a sound card that would b stupid to do on a rig that only cost $700. i want music first because i am a guitarist and drummer before i am a gamer...at the same time im saving upo for a nice guitar...1.5-2.4k for the guitar depending of if i can find it used

having tons of music doesn't make u an audiophile
while understanding and enjoying one music with full passion is the true audiophile.

so i guess u don't have to buy a certain audiophile soundcard, since X-fi will give u a taste of great sounds in both worlds.

edit*
beside, certain audiophile soundcards won't perform good at rock, trance or any other bass dominant genres.

yea im a big rocker...like everything from acoustic rock to metal...i hate rap and anything to do with it
i consider myself an audiophile, i notice differences in headphones at sea level than in the mountains....sea level sounds better to me
i also can pick out one single instrument from a song and just listen to that with out really hearing all the others... unless its poorly recorded
i rather use speakers than use headphones cuz i move around alot in my room when listening to stuff...and also i find most headphones uncomfortable...tho i like the sound out of them more its not worth the discomfort

what cards are recommended?

i still recommend u x-fi...
somehow i find it difficult to suggest u another audiophile SC.
and if x-Fi still doesn't meet your expectation... then i will suggest u ESI Juli@.

for uncomfortable headphones... which headphones did u use?
since mine are really comfortable(i got 4 headphones and 1 set o' speaker)

If an audiophile... Get the Elite with the improved DAC. Otherwise, get the XtremeMusic.

To answer most of your questions: (1) a fridge cannot cool a PC (2) 64-bit OS for over 3.4GB (3) If a PCIe card fits, it should work (4) Resolution, not screen size (5) If you have a question, it is not news (6) Report, not respond to Spam (7) Single-Rail/Non-Modular PSUs are not always better than Multi-Rail/Modular (8) Sequential does not matter as much as random for OS drives
