well... to tell u the truth... there is no such thing as true surround from a non-surround source.
it's emulated.... but still, channel mixer does a wonderful job!

I gave foobar2000 and FLAC a try tonight. I'm using ASIO, sharpening and kernel streaming output. It sounds better that's for sure.

Does anyone know of a quick and easy way to switch from Game Mode to Audio Creation mode?

Also, should crystalizer be enabled?

use ASIO... not Kernel streaming (i dunno why i really dun like KS)

the easiest way to change mode is by using "X-Fi mode switcher" program.

if u have an unmodded X-Fi, yes, u should have crystalizer on.
if u have a modded X-Fi, then you should turn it off.

turn off EAX and CMSS3D

Cystalizer is at 70%.. good? Why turn off EAX? Isn't that good for games?

EDIT: Nevermind I didn't realize I could turn off EAX in audio creation mode but leave it on in game mode.

both EAX and CMSS3D can make the music sound pretty weird, just leave em to Game Mode.

as for crystalizer level, just put em where u like it best

I had everything all set in ASIO and audio creation mode, I play some music and open up wc3. sound from hell proceeds.. So I had to go back to game mode :/

use game mode when u're playing games!
use entertainment or audio creation mode when u're listening to music.
use entertainment mode when u're watching DVDs.
