Just got my new rig going, but I was wondering which sound outputs to use. I know onboard takes up processor resources, but not sure if it affects dual-core cpu's as badly as it used to on single-cores. What is the verdict? Onboard HD audio from my Biostar TForce 550, or my Audigy 2 ZS?

Same as anything relating to single vs. dual more cores less load per core. Really depnds what quality you want a stand alone card is always better then onboard. What do you have Realtech 8channel? HD audio is OK not sure on that board but mine works great and only got a 2.1 system.

Don't Fail Too Hard..

Some people will say that when overclocking and having onboard audio, the audio quality will get worse. I'm not sure if that is the case often but there seems to be a chance of that happening.

I have a set up like that in my other PC. I used to have RealTek HD and then put a Audigy 2 ZS and it was a major upgrade.

the Audigy 2 will be better than your onbaord. The Audigy will also let you use EAX on your games unlike the onboard

The Audigy 2 ZS is a very good gaming card compared to many soundcards, not just integrated.
