hey, i dont know anything about sound systems, but on the 680i sli motherboard, it has a 7.1 channel audio output, and I only have a 2.1 speakers and subwoofer, and only the right speaker works.
__________________how do i know im plugging the cord into the right color port on the motherboard? what color should i plug it into so i get sound for all my speakers??

Since the colors do not match you may have to do trial and error session with the Speaker Self-test. The test will allow you to check each channels output. Use a process of elimination to determine which is the R and which is the L channel....
....or you could take a peek at the manual or .pdf file online. ![]()

eh tried that and i did the process of elimination, only my right speaker works, which sucks, cause i dont know if i could return the speakers, bought them about a month and a half ago at bestbuy, and dont have the reciept, so im kinda screwed.. oh well

Use the green jack, that is stereo. For the subwoofer you will need to experiment.

Have you installed the Drivers?
What does the Device Manager have to say about the status? Do you have a Sound Console? If so it ought to have a utility to check each channel...

device manager says its working, but when i do the sound test it doesn't play the sound when it tests the left speaker, only when it goes to the right speaker it plays the sound, and you can tell no sound comes from it when you listen closely.

The "sound conole" is a generic term for a utility that allows customization.
Also, have you looked at the Audio settings in the Control Panel? Check to see if Windows has the correct settings (i.e. Speakers). ![]()
