Wireless has a much smaller audio path to work with than good old-fashioned copper wire. Much of the sound gets lost. Just stick with copper, and you'll be happier in the end. (not to mention you'll use less batteries)

If you're wanting a good stereo setup instead of surround, why not just buy yourself a good sound card (pretty much anything made by Creative) and get yourself a GOOD bookshelf stereo system? Or hell, stereo....onboard audio would probably be just fine. If you're fine with just stereo sound, get a great bookshelf stereo instead of computer speakers. Then you're not JUST limited to your computer if you want good sound. In my opinion though...don't buy ANYTHING made by Sony. They're a great brand, but I think they're audio equipment is WAY below standards.

That is not entirely true. I while back I got a RCA wireless surround system from target. It rivals my basement setup which costs three times as much. The only thing I would recommend you do is place the wireless back speaker receiver away from radios and microwaves, but that is pretty self explanitory anyway.

Here are some nice ones I've found that have wireless rear speakers and they all sound like they work well. A note on these wireless systems is that they use a powered wireless base instead of batteries and the transmitter is the sub.

Creative GigaWorks G550W 310 W 5.1 Speaker

RCA RTD218 Home Theatre System

The RCA I listed is similar to mine but a newer more powerful version.
