![]() ![]() Got her for 60$ at the "local" music shop a few weeks back. Used and on consignment baby! Hugeeee difference in music quality. A friend of mine recently bought a Peavey tnt150(?) bass amp with a 5 band graphic equalizer and I was drooling over the customization of tones that could be had. She's a Peavey Q215F dual 15 band graphical equalizer goodness I'll put some more pics up as soon at the camera batteries charge.

As promised more pics!
![]() The rear of the equalizer. a pair of 1/4'' input jacks on each band. max power usage is 20w. ![]() The back of my 1970's Realistic receiver. Vintage. ![]() And the innards of the same Realistic receiver. I think the caps need to be replaced. The left channel is very cranky at low volume levels. As you may notice almost all of the internal wires are not soldered to the pcb's but are coiled onto pegs for easy removal. The receiver has been with me for a few years now. It's an amazing piece of craftsmanship.

I'll polish one of mine up and post pics tomorrow, if you'd like. I need to repair a knob that has fallen off.

I have an ancient Realistic PA amp from the 70's that I'm using as a guitar amp right now. It's awesome.
Nice EQ though. Those kinds of EQs are so perfect for live performances.

Yikes... I've been wanting to get another home theater system after my dad sold our full Toshiba setup that he bought it the mid-90s. I can still remember watching Jurassic Park on those 4' towers... Subwoofer? Who needs a stinking sub when you got 2 10" woofers in each tower? Man, I miss it.

In addition to the caps being shot, it's probably a safe bet that the volume and other pots are a filthy mess. Grab some Caig DeOxit and give them a nice little cleaning.
That should clear up the "crankyness" you're talking about. Also if you've got a DMM and some time / a schematic it would be worth it to check the DC offset of the speaker outputs and adjust with the trim variable resistors on the board somewhere (hence why a schem is handy - adjusting a bias pot can (and will) kill your amp). DC offset is DC voltage on the speaker outputs - something not desired. Anything under 15mv is great (though if it reads zero there is probably a problem), from 15 to 35 or so is acceptable, and at much over 50mv you run risk of damaging your speakers. Properly calibrating DC offset can breathe new life into vintage gear.
