Again I completely agree, if you have such a good soundcard why waste it with a USB garbage headset?

Platronics and Logitech are going to be the two best companies for you to look at in terms of headsets. Personally I prefer good headphones and a clip on mic but thats most likely out of your range.

I'm pleased with my Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000. Comfortable, passable audio quality, and a great mic.

I bought a Rocketfish headset yesterday from Bestbuy- I am in love. It is the best sounding USB headset I have ever used.

Mine works. Get some Sennheisers, I have the hd212's from there and they are great. They are refurbs but mine were in perfect condition.

I need the mic, the headset i consider just being there to hold the mic in place and to hear other people.

I have an older xfi card (3-4 years old) and have had issues with vista. I finally gave up on it a week ago and am using onboard sound and have had no problems since. I'm not sure about the newer cards though.

The biggest issue with a gaming headset is, imo, comfort. Get a set that goes around the outside of your ear. If it sits on your ear it will start to get uncomfortable during longer playing times.
