Default X-FI LM4562 Mod

Wow this mod is amazing, just did it, took me about 3 hours. The sound is actually clearer even though I don't use an amp or anything of that sort, just my sennheiser hd555 and my xtrememusic.

I had trouble at first because I did not know what I did wrong, my solder was in a straight line across all 4 joints on both sides. I knew it was too easy to be true, I had to desolder it and then solder each join individually, the straight line of solder was causing my soundcard to create crackling snapping sounds, almost lost my hearing. But this is definitely worth it guys, just do it, it costed me around 15 bucks for soldering iron and solder from radioshack and 10 bucks for 3 LM4562's. This was my first experience with soldering and it was easy!

http://www.overclock.net/sound-cards...ll-void-2.html here is the link to the mod

Sorry I don't have a camera for pics, but if you want I can give you a more detailed guide on how I did it, it should take about 10 minutes if you really know what your doing.

you can also short the 4 decoupling caps after the op-amp channel for tighter bass, and a widened sound stage. that one is easy too, and i hope you took the free samples

Nice! Burn them in NAO! I'm sure they'll sound even better when they stablize.

I'm surprised shorting the op-amps didn't kill them or your card, glad to hear you got the mod working well though

Where is a good place to buy these op-amps? National tried to charge me a $15 handling fee for ONE.

The handling fee at Digikey is only $5 regardless of how many you order. Mouser does not have a handling fee - but they don't carry National products. Good place to order from if you wanted to experiment with some other opamps.
