Default optical output....

My sound card below in my sig has an optical output, but it's also the mic jack....whats up with that? I want to run an optical cable from my sound card to the optical input on my home theater system....any ideas?

there is no Xfi (creative) card that has optical on it with out the console. what your talking is the spdif out and it uses a normal 3.5mm jack that sends out digital data to a receiver usaully in the form of DTS or DD. and also you cant use eax in digital mode. you have to have it in analog mode.

I have NEVER seen an optical port that looked like that. The usual looks like this but has a cover.

I don't know how it could possibly act as both and optical out and a Mic port. BTW did you RTFM? xD I'm sure it covers it. If you don't have it anymore you can DL it at the creative website.

If you look at the card's PCI plate it clearly says Optical Out. I call shenanigans on Creative's part.

its not optical i have the same card he does but the fatal1ty version and its a normal spdif out jack that does in and out. i forgot about that adapter LOL. i just doubled checked it. my bad guys.
