Default Mute after Stand By?

I have Windows set to go into Stand By just a few minutes after turning off the hdd's, and when I wake the computer up, the sound sometimes gets muted. But this is totally random. It sometimes seems like it does it every other time it goes into Stand By, and it seems like it can go almost a dozen times in a row without being muted, and other times it can be muted every single time.

Is there a fix for this?

That depends on what you define as "so much". I didn't specify the amount of time I set it to yet, nor do I believe it's necessary or relevant. For all you know, it could be 4 hours before the hdd's turn off, and 5 hours before Stand By kicks in. That's not the point. I wasn't looking to discuss why I'm using Stand By or anything like that.

The point is: when it automatically goes to Stand By (and I want to specify that it turns the hdd's off prior to going into stand by as I do not know whether or not this has anything to do with it), the sound will be muted when I wake the computer up.

Now let me be clear that I have my reasons for setting it to go to Stand By (after automatically turning off the hdd's), so I'm going to continue using it. But what's annoying is that I have no idea why this strange behavior is happening, and I would really like to understand it.
