I am looking at the HD555, Grado SR60/80, and the AD700 for headphones, but I can't decide which to get, or even another headphone.. I game and occasionally listen to music, I guess rock mostly...but I don't absolutely need one specialized for that because I listen to some other genres too. My budget is flexible but I would want to stay under or at about $100.
Got any suggestions/recommendations?

I was looking at those already actually, heard they were GREAT budget headphones with a great sound. I don't know whether to spend the extra cash for the others or not.

I personally love the AD700s, having a fairly wide head means that many headphones (stock) clamp down on my head, but with the AD700s I can listen for hours, and have not a care in the world for them, no clamping on my head, they sound awesome, and best of all they're don't hurt my head.... the HD555s I own as well and love them too but I mainly use my AD700s. I have never tried any of the Grado series for comparison... But they're on the list to purchase...

I have compared SR60's and 225's a number of times, and the latter is vastly superior in my opinion (in virtually all respects). That's not to say that 60's aren't great, because they are. Nate - look at Alessandro MS1's. They will look familiar to you, and that is for good reason - they use the same exact body as the Grado's. Alessandro is smoother and a little less forward, making them a bit more rounded for most genres yet still above average with rock.

Thanks for all the replies..
I have a fairly small head, will the AD700s fit? I still can't decide; the MS1 looks good though. So many choices ![]() P.S.- I'd prefer new ones if at all possible..

If you are into gaming, I would stay away from the SR60/SR80, they have some of the smallest soundstages for open cans. But they are still great for rock, fast, tight bass, forward sound, all you need for rock and metal.
P.S. Aura, I've got a SR225 on the way from headroom, I'm finally joining the club of the higher-end Grados!

My A700's fit my 10 year old brother's head. And plus I would recommend the A700's to you anyway. A closed back can will have more detail than an open. The AD700's are much better for music, but the A700's win with games. I don't think that grados would be well suited for gaming, that just my 2 cents though.
