I want to hook my new HTPC's soundcard up to my TV. Are there 5.1 stereo to rca cables out there I can find to do it right? I've seen a single jack stereo to red/white rca, but wouldn't that negate the purpose of having a 5.1 soundcard?

some speakers systems (like logitech) comes with a adapter that the speakers wires plugg into the you attatch the av to headphone jack to it or av wire

Do you have a multichannel receiver? If not, then outputting 5.1 to a stereo TV would be a waste of time.

So looks like single jack stereo to rca is the answer.

you know how there is the black/green/orange wires that plugg into the sound card. well instead they plugg into an adapter that you hook up av wires to so you can use a console or tv on them (AV)
found what i was trying to explain http://www.amazon.com/Console-Adapter-Convert-Plugs-Single/dp/B0006U3ACY

I saw that, but would that do anything or just make me spend money? It doesn't look like it has any extra hardware to decode a 5.1 audio signal. I would think the sound would be almost the same as a straight stereo to rca cable.

Since most TV's can't decode multichannel nor do Prologic, having a multichannel input won't do anything different from having a stereo input.
