Default Shure Repair service any good?

I've got a set of Shure E500PTH IEM's that I'm sending back to Shure for repair. Anyone ever deal with them before? They're based in Illinois so I imagine this will be a painless procedure.

The company I work for never has a problem with them. They may be nicer to us because we buy from them all the time though. We have our own Repair guy so usually he just orders the broken parts and replaces them.

What is broken on your set?

They send you a brand new pair, no questions asked. I had to send in my E2c's twice, great customer service.

The right IEM is significantly lower in volume compared to the left one. I've checked to make sure everything is plugged in correctly, and I've cleaned them, but the sound is still abnormally low.

That would be sweet if they do.

JoeUbi is correct. They don't repair, just send you a new set. I live in Illinois, and not that far away from their corporate office. Went there two weeks ago with my E5's. The warranty had expired a long time ago, so it cost me, but only $100 to get a brand new replacement pair. I was happy!

$100 for a set of E500's is definitely worth it. I LOOOOOVE these IEM's. I was pissed when they went bad. But given Shure's reputation, I'm sure they'll make up for it.

I had the same problem with my E5's. The right-ear bud volume was severly reduced, in comparison to the left. I would have the turn the volume to max on anything to get any sound out of the right one.

But I had them for a very long time, so since it was out of warranty I had to pay. Didn't really mind it though. Like you, I love these headphones. I take the train to work and have to sit with all of the people who talk on their cell phones, or are just plain loud. I just pop in the E5's, turn on my iPod and I can't hear anything outside the music!

Love'em!

I've had mine for about a year. Luckily theyre covered by a two year warranty. Yea the sound isolation is great. I fly a lot and with these IEM's in can't hear anything. Course anything like this would block out sound, but these sound better than most. Cant wait to get a new set in. I've been using this real old set of Sony headphones in the mean time. They pale incomparison. It's horrible.

LEGENDARY!

Hernia inducingly good!

...

I'm a long time Shure fan-boy ... mostly their mics but of late, their IEM's as well.

Dig this:

I wrote them a letter expressing my concern that my 100 dollar E4C's tips came loose from the IEM housing and got stuck in my ear canal.

I just politely asked if they'd send me some new silicon tips ...

What did Shure Inc, do?

They sent me a brand new pair of SE530PTH's for my trouble!

I couldn't f'ing believe it (pardon my abbreviated passion).

A 500 dollar pair of IEM's simply cause I took the time to write an honest letter regarding some problems I had had with a set of E4C's.

Anyway ... here's the old thread conveying the whole story:

...

SHURE INC. PWNS all EXISTENCE!!!

...

I listen to those 530's at least 4 hours a day ... they are from God.

lol

That's awesome. I was skeptical spending so much on headphones, but yea it was completely worth it. I use mine for hours each day as well. They are indeed godly. lol
