Default Need recommendation on a new sound card

My Creative Labs Audigy SE just died and I would like to replace it instead of using onboard sound.

What do you recommend?

Vista Home Premium 32 bit
Uses: Internet, Music, Gaming - Probably in that order

Playing through a Sharp 200w Shelf System:

Budget?

Auzentech X-Fi Prelude will be overkill based upon your stated uses. I'd recommend an X-Fi XtremeMusic, but obviously budget needs to be taken into consideration.

If your budget is low and your stomach can handle it, get another Creative card. If otherwise, get anything else that's not labeled Creative.

xtrememusic. I just got it and it makes an insane difference.

If you buy either the HP or the Dell OEM you'll have difficulty installing drivers, and Vista may be a wildcard.

If you can ensure that your card is not OEM you'll do fine. However, most for sale these days are OEM from what I've heard.

More info: http://www.overclock.net/sound-cards...rememusic.html

Lotta people have trouble installing w/ dell OEM's, but that's how I got mine to work.

More info on the OEM situation: http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...VIEWTMP=Linear
