The drivers with Creative are unreal to deal with.

$100 limit can (and is) a limiting factor.
I just did this new build so I could say ADIOS to Dell and had to reuse some components.
Asus drivers have nothing to do with Creative, unlike Auzentech.

Say you had a ~$150 ish budget, what alternatives to the Auzentech Prelude are there?

Bluegears b-Enspirer has really high class Sound Quality, and it is under $100 (or perhaps just over, not sure any more) and there are absolutely no issues in Vista.

i'm using a xonar with hd555's and it sounds amazing. it costs a little extra but its worth it and i've had no problems with drivers in vista 64.
