I was goofing around in my creative consoles while testing some X-540's I bought and for some reason, I can't get anything to output into 5.1 like with my Z-5500's. In the Creative Console, it shows 2/2.1 configuration and the only way I can get it to 5.1 is when I enable DDL but it still only outputs my sound to 2.1. I had 5.1 earlier but now I can't figure out how to get it back.

Any help with this issue?

Nvm....when I unplugged and replugged the speakers Windows auto set me back to 2.1 so I had to reset it there back to 5.1 and now we're back in business. Time for audio testing

Well hey...maybe you can help me with something. I can't get Winamp to output to 5.1 unless I enable the Creative CMSS-3D which just spreads the 2.1 around all channels. Ever had that problem? It sounds terrible because it distorts at higher volumes. I've gotta drop my volume to hear it clear but then it's not loud enough.

with winamp have tou tried matrix mode?

My Z-5500's sound better But I got these for $29.99+7 ship so I figured, might as well test them out. If they do okay, I'll save them so I'll have speakers for my current rig when I build my new 45nm AMD X4 Phenom and move my Z-5500's over to it and just use this machine as a music player or file server. Screw this...I'm moving back to Z-5500's for now. Thanks for the help guys.
