I am getting this for my brother. He has an old computer and would be putting music on it from there, my sister's, and my parent's computer. He likes the Creative, so we will probably go for that. I have seen the reviews, but I guess I feel a bit more secure when they are people from this site.

I would look into a refurb 4gb Nano 3rd gen. Love it so far. My 8gb refurb came in really good condition. One scratch on the back. Go to Apples site for the refurbs
I do like the Creative MP3 players too. Look into the X-Fi Creative MP3 players.

Second that. I was amazed at the sound quality of the PSP coupled with Sony V300's...

I personally from experience recommend the Creative zen. That little thing is still going strong for me.

I've played around with that Sandisk MP3 player. Its nice, not too fancy and whatnot; not for watching videos, etc. Creative Labs is the place to go for multimedia in your selection. Otherwise, simplicity would have to go with Sandisk.

Okay, the one problem I don't want with ipods is the itunes thing. I don't own one, but I don't want to have to be doing it for him, and he doesn't know how to manage his music (12 yr old) so drag and drop explorer would be best. Can you do that with ipods?

I wouldn't even select an ipod honestly. As said previously in this thread, with the Creative Zen or the Sandisk you can just load the music via Windows Media Player, which isn't hard at all.

(Nothing wrong with iPods, just find the whole itunes ish or other selected media player to upload music to be slightly ridiculous.)
