Default Sound Card for Guitar Recording?

My Audigy SE gets the Job done, but I was wondering if there was a better sound card I could get on the Cheap that would have better sound quality/be better suited for recording?

That depends on your definition of cheap. But my guess is that there are other things that are affecting quality more than your soundcard. What kind of mic/pickup are you using? Are you using a preamp of any sort?

I can help you too if you answer those questions.

Generically I would say go get a Delta 4/4.

yeah thats a little out of my price range...

$75 max If I can keep it that low.

I'm going to record with a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser FR, for pickups I'm sporting an EMG-81 and an EMG-85. For a preamp I am just gonna run it through my Vox AD50VT with a cable going to my PC. I haven't tried it on mine yet because I haven't found an adapter for a guitar cord to make it that small.

Get an M-Audio USB interface. Cheap and reliable pres. $100 - comes with Pro Tools LE and built in guitar EFX software. It has all you need for basic recording purposes. Mic (XLR) input, line/instrument (1/4") input, and headphone out for monitoring.
