I've heard of driver problems with some of these sound cards, any comments? And if these were all the same price, what one would you buy and why?

I have the Creative X-treme gamer. There is some crackling in the speaker with Vista 32 and 64 Ultimate, but if your running XP pro you will love it. The Crackling is very slight and hard to hear at a distance but is still irritating for me when im playing crysis.

Creative's drivers aren't that great from what I've heard, and the Asus got good reviews so go for the Asus DX

The XtremeMusic shouldn't even be an option...

Lurking hard

Doing it wrong guys, you are misinforming the OP. The XtremeMusic is an excellent card, the XtremeAudio is the rabadged Audigy with "X-fi" which really isn't true X-fi. The XtremeMusic was later replaced by the XtremeGamer so essentially the same card but full sized and moddeable for better quality. If you get lucky you might see it at woot.com for uber cheap that is if you live in the US.

I would go for the Asus Xonar DX. Just avoid Creative products.

The best option is the Asus DX but not in your budget.
