MOBO Onboard Optical Sound
Hello OCN-
My apologies for the noobness. I am more or less debating on whether or not to get a optical cable for my K9A2 Platinum Motherboard sound. (flame shield) However I am also thinking about getting a sound card all together if the price is right. . I currently have a Creative Inspire GD580 which I have no intention on replacing. That being said I don't know what would be 'appropriate' given these speakers are a good 3 years old. Random Info I have Sennheiser USB headphones which I would use if and when I can't be load or for Ventrillo and the like (I realize I don't need a sound card for this). I have Vista Ultimate 64x Looking to go out and use my $50 BB gift card $100 total budget. I appreciate any feedback!!

So a brand new day deserves a brand new /bump!
The cable is in the mail. So I suppose my questions changes to... Given that I have Vista 64 (mentioning for an incompatibility issues) what sound card should I get for lets say $100. I would like to shop Best Buy as I have a $50 gift card  .Thanks!

Get the Asus DX sound card. I'm not an expert on sound cards, make sure it has connections you need. $60 at Newegg open box. New around $90
