Default Looking for deep-bass headphones

Well, my Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones are pretty much falling apart. I have used them quite heavily over the past few years, and the wear is starting to show. I think it's time to look for some new ones.

I have been quite satisfied with the bass response of the HD280 Pro headphones, as they dip down to 8 Hz, and with enough volume, it's like a subwoofer over my ear, but at the same time the mids and high ranges come out clear and there's no distortion that I can tell with the bass. I want a pair of headphones that perform like that, where the bass is deep and powerful, with no distortion, while maintaining clear mids and highs. My budget is between $100-$175. Oh, and they need to be circumaural.

Default Try sennheiser hd 555

try sennheiser hd 555's ... they are on sale at newegg for 69 if you send in your old headphones. I think the sale lasts until august 30th.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...6392&Tpk=hd555

edit - after checking the specs, I don't think these are any better than your HD280's.

HD580 with a Mini^3 amp. They'll set you back about $250 but will be worth it.

I think they are worse. 15 Hz minimum response. I'm aiming for 8 Hz.

I saw these on Newegg, are they any good? It's the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 headphones, with a response starting at 5 Hz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826402014

Oh, and what's a headphone amp?

DT 770 pro 80s, denon 2000, or even the HD212.

Oh, and what's a headphone amp?

Human hearing only has a range down to about 20Hz anyway, so I don't think 8 or 15 will make a difference. Some reference monitors used in studios will only go down to about 30Hz and they're pretty expensive - and have a huge amount of accurate bass.

AD700 is not a good choice for strong bass, neither is the HD555. Like 'lipid said, the Beyer DT770 and Denon D2000 are the best options, I'd also look at the Denon D1000/D1001

Why not get another pair of HD 280 pro's If You really liked everything about them so much? Just a thought. It seemed you had no complaints and were very happy them.
