Sound coming from laptop and headphones - Overclock.net

Hi i have an acer aspire 3680 laptop that had vista basic on it. well it was horrible. so i installed xp pro and now when i plug in the headphones, it plays out of the headphones and the laptops speakers, which kinda defeats the purpose of having headphones. i have installed the latest drivers and it still does it. it has the realtek program with it. if anyone knows how to fix it, i would appreciate it.
