After someone has used their mic, does the static and loss of sound continue? Or does it only persist so long as this person talks?

Being that you changed the sound card I would assume it's the problem.

Isn't there a way to just disable VoIP in the game's audio settings?

its there microphones...not your computer at all bro.
This happens to little kids screaming or having 5 dollar generic mics. Also, the CMSS would only be useful if you have 4+ speakers setup, so i just leave it on for me.

Some games are picky and CMSS only works if the card is set in game mode when you play. I know I've made the mistake of leaving my card in entertainment and when I launch my game, the game doesn't recognize the card and it's CMSS-3D goodness. Also, as fps-sean said, it only works if you have something of a surround setup.
Good Luck getting everything working ![]()
