I decided to try out Foobar, and compared to the player I usually use, the Creative Mediasource 5 player, the songs sound distorted when I go to mess with the equalizer. I turn up the bass a little and it gets all fuzzy and distorted. I use the Crystalizer through the Creative Audio Console while using CMS5, and I never get this distortion.
What settings should I be enabling, if any, to get rid of that distortion? I want the bass to sound as clear as it does with Crystalizer + CMS5.

Foobar is a crap to boot program, once you configured it and tweaked it it's just as good as any other program.
Foobar isn't a program that should be run on default settings... TWEAK!

It's weird, David Draiman's voice is mostly on the 880 Hz mark.

Foobar is a great thing, sure. Only problem is the time it takes to get it configured, skinned, and EQ'd to your liking. That's the one thing that turned me off it when i tried it those few times. Once you do take the time to sort it however, and make it how you want it, i imagine it would be wonderful.
I myself went back to Winamp 5.5 with the Enhancer 0.17 Plugin. Sounds great to me, and is much less time consuming.

Same as winamp... ASIO is just like FLAC, to much good spec and no difference...

if foobar seems a little overwhelming maybe you guys should give j.river media jukebox a try, with native ASIO, last.fm, and ipod support its awesome for me, although I miss the G15 plugin from my foo... also equalizers are distorting the song anyways, thats what they do, so why complain, and you should really only be using one master EQ, not 3... thats like photocopying the third photocopy from the second photocopy from the original, its a domino effect of distortion and mutilation... you should really try audio creation mode, with bit matched playback, and turn off all your EQs, and then see what it sounds like, the way its meant to sound...

here mess around with the DSP options.
Making it look nice isn't hard in the DUI menu there is even an option for whenever you right click things you can move them around or insert different tabs and windows. and for the ASIO problems, go into playback>output menu and make sure your ASIO device is enabled and configured, also add some DSP's for better quality (ala resampler set to 48 or 96khz instead of 41khz)
