I just tried going from a onboard Realtek 7.1 HD to a old sound blaster live 5.1 digital. I do not hear a difference.

System: cheap spider

CPU cooling stock (lapped) jumped to 6000rpm	GPU cooling passive	OS XP pro	Monitor proview 19" lcd+proview 32" lcd
