Default Sound Card Driver Help

So I installed my sound card and installed vista for the first time. I didn't install the driver(and I wasn't connected to the internet) until I got vista running. After installing CCC and a restart I proceeded to install the Creative driver. But, with my built in speakers plugged into the card I had no sound at all.

Then, I went and installed my motherboard drivers(including Realtek HD drivers). So now I have 2 drivers installed and I've tried plugging in the audio into my onboard sound and that doesn't work either. What's the next step? Should I uninstall one of those drivers?

Go into your BIOS and disable the onboard sound, then uninstall the onboard sound drivers and reinstall the drivers for the sound card.
