Default Best 7.1 Card?

Ive been looking around alot and most have less than ideal ratings, or you get noobs using them whom have excel spreadsheets and talk about how amazing their classical music plays back..

Anyone have any suggestions on what would be a extremely good 7.1 sound card by today's standards for primarily game play reasons, and audio second to the gaming sound.

Any help would be appreciated!

this falls under the category ' u wont kno the difference '... like they did to the audiophile's where they made them differentiate between sound quality of a coat hanger and Monster cable wire... they could not tell the difference. at times they said the coat hanger sound was better than the monster cable... with the card u have now, its good enuff for a 7.1 system, u wont have anything but bragging rights on a better card, ur ears cant tell the difference.

If you put gaming first and audio second then stick with the card you have. If audio was first then I'd recommend something different even though the card you have does audio just fine. Your not going to get a better card than that for gaming. The xonar d2x might get close enough to match it but you can't beat creative in the gaming department.

Creative cards now work fine with 64 bit vista. For a long time this was an issue.
