Default 5.1.. USB? or Standard Audio Jack setup with Card?

Ive been having some issues with my sound card, Sound Blaster Audigy 4 and Vista 64X. For the most part some things have been subsided with specific drivers but still cause instability in some games.

My zalman 5.0 headsets are kinda tore up. I mainly use headsets for gaming and would like a replacement headset.

My question is, should i remove the soundcard and get a pair of Cyber Snipa 5.1 gaming headsets, or keep the sound blaster audigy 4 and get a pair of these

just another quick Q, how much better is the SB audigy X-fi gamer compared to the audigy 4. I heard its not doing so well in Vista 64.

I would stay away from 5.1 headsets, it's just a marketing technique. Get a decent pair of headphones (Audio-Technica AD700's/A700's) and get a clip-on mic.

Oh, and good luck with getting the Barracuda sound card of Woot, only happens once in a blue moon. It's not THAT great of a sound card anyways.

Yeah as Kenny said check out some good stereo headphone offerings with a clip on mic instead of the 5.1 headsets, they're just a gimmick, drivers are too small and ill placed, sound stage is foggy, and tight. Bass is usually exagerated ALOT, and they're generally not too comfy for extended gaming sessions. \check out some DT770 pro 80s off of ebay for around ~$150 or some HD555s off of the egg for around ~$100 those would be my choices, although \i love my AD700s aswell and am sure the A700s would be another fine choice.

and check out this guide
