Default Is a Soundblaster live 5.1 digital card worth it?

Well i cam across a $10 soundblaster card from a friend.

For the price i cant beat it, this is my motherboard

http://www.intel.com/products/mother...5GCZ/index.htm

Specs on the audio below

Intel® High Definition Audio subsystem using one of the following configurations:
8-channel (7.1) audio subsystem with five analog audio outputs and one S/PDIF optical digital audio output using the Sigmatel 9223 audio codec
6-channel (5.1) audio subsystem with three analog audio outputs using the Sigmatel 9220 audio codec

And this is the exact card

http://www.techexcess.net/creative-s...rd-sb0220.aspx

What is the plug for on the left? I think it will look good under my video card...but i dont wanna waste 10 bucks on something if it wont help at all lol. I definitly blast my music and it distorts a little but im sure its crappy logitech speakers

For one it will free up more cpu, sound better, and wont have any interference like onboard. All pluses. Go for it.

Ok so i cant get it to work....

It didnt come with any cables or anything and i see spots for some inputs for cables, are these neccesary?

I think its just a driver issue, the PC recognizes the hardware as a soundblaster card

Just get the drivers, you don't need anything else unless you have external sources or such.

Oh yea, just throwing this out there, disable on-board and uninstall all of it's drivers before installing the Creative 5.1

Got it goin

I think thats what it was, i didnt uninstall the onboard stuff...but all is well and man it sounds good....i can honestly say i will never own another computer without a sound card...its so much cleaner, and crisper, the bass hits lower, and i definitly have more power i turn my volume knob about half what i used to....

Im actually still quite shocked how much of an improvement this was.....awsome

I think some cable sleeving/extending is in order lol
