I'm sending a 3' Reference Elite with Cardas SLVR plugs and a demo to a potential upgrade to my Resolution series. It would replace the Resolution Elite, to be placed in S1rrah's care for the Houston meet.

And care shall be taken.

Thanks, sir.

Can't wait to listen.

(Woo Audio, Soloz Audio, MHDT Labs, Grover Cable, and more)

All making uber fine demo contributions to our humble little (20 perz max) Houston Meet.

It's really turned out better than myself or Orcin could have imagined.

Thanks again.

Well first thing ...

Everyone at the meet was flabbergasted at how beautifully the cups were finished! Really ... ooooos and ahhhhs were frequent.

Regarding the sonics?

I enjoyed them ...

I was not bowled over or intrigued enough to want to spend more than an hour or so with them though (with my RS1's staring at me and all) ...

I generally found the highs and mids and overall staging to be decent ... mids were strange a bit ... but overall it yielded a pleasant, if not to my ear, "generic" sort of take on things ... not real "exciting" or intriguing ... again, sounded decent and all but not in a way that made me want to keep them on my head.

In comparison ... the HD650's and the AKG701's that I first heard at the meet *did* have that certain element that intrigued me and made me want to keep listening. That, "I can't put my finger on it" little "splinter in the ear" that agitates in the best ways.

The bass is just a bit over the top for me ...

It's at the point of being near "wollen" or dull while at the same time being present and HUGE.

Comments from folks at the meet were near identical to the above.

...

On the flipside?

Folks at the meet did extensive testing of the woodied D2000's to a stock pair that Shelly had on her expansive table ...

And the reaction was much much more positive, everyone preferred the stock Denon's to the woodied ones (me too). In fact, several people have already ordered Denon D2000's due to their listen of the stock pair, calling them the best "bang for the buck" headphone at the meet.

But everyone was unanimous about the workmanship and craft involved in creating the cups ... that's for sure.

...

Anyway ... thanks for getting them here so quick, Jacob ... I'll duly ship them to the next recipient this friday.

BTW:

Can someone confirm exactly who I am to be shipping to?

Phospholid PM'd me his address a week or so back but I got a PM just yesterday that seemed to indicate it was somebody else?

Somebody officially "clear the air" and I'll ship pronto this Friday.

Thanks again, Bryan ...

Would this group be limited to those who own high end headphones that have mods done to them?

I think I mentioned it in my pm earlier, but Seth (Chipp) is next in line.

Thanks for the impressions Joel, much appreciated.

The group is limited to the members that I personally selected quite a while ago. For this first loan, I felt it was best for me to make the ultimate decision of those that were trustworthy and capable of handling the loan. Certainly there will be new guys for the next round, but I cannot say when this will occur.

Denon's went out via FedEx insured to Chipp today.

(BTW, Seth ... I opted for the signature confirm option so someone will have to be home to sign for them or FedEx will take them back to there warehouse; sort of a pain in the but if nobody is home during delivery times but I couldn't stand the thought of them leaving them on the porch or something. FYI).

Have fun, bro.

joel.

Received them today from Phospholipid, the box was pretty beat up, but the contents appear to be just fine.

As everyone else has said, the wood cups are nothing short of astounding to look at, the pictures Bryan has taken don't do them justice. The color and shine is incredible.

They are fairly heavy, and have a strange fit, making me feel boxed in and a bit claustrophobic, while not really blocking out any outside noise. Not a fan of the fit, but it's not a huge problem either. The cable is a beast, though a bit microphonic.

Initial impressions on the sound are that it's weird. Parts are pushed way back, parts are pushed forward, the soundstage has massive width but little depth, bass is slow and boomy, but highs are a bit harsh. It falls flat with metal and really anything detailed and analytical, but there are a few things it excels in, namely trance/techno. The booming bass makes it very fun, yet it's detailed and the imaging presents a unique experience.
