Default The Circle Project - OCN Headphone Loan #1

This is the commencement of something that I have thought about for quite a while now.

The OCN Headphone group is expanding more and more every week, along the way picking up members that have a genuine passion for improving the music that they listen to on a daily basis. Progression comes slowly and surely, but as an editor for this section it is my responsibility to help others gain more knowledge and familiarity with what lies out there.

So...

I am beginning The Circle Project. Ultimately, it is my intention for this project to be a compilation of headphone loans, hopefully with various members offering contributions, etc.

One thing that must be considered is that for a first loan, I am looking to complete it as smoothly and successfully as could be hoped for. It was logical to choose the participants as I saw fit in order to have a sense of trust figured in to the mix. As such -

The participants are all OCN Headphone Club members:

Chipp, Soloz, Phospholipid, Namrac, The_Legend, and S1rrah.

What the loan is comprised of:

My Denon D2000 - Markl-modded, recabled in APureSound v3, with Rosewood deep cups.

How the loan will function:

In the spirit of "the circle", this headphone will be shipped around the United States from one participant to the next, each person being allotted a week to enjoy (or painfully endure) this pair of headphones on their own rig, with sources and amps that they are already familiar with.

What to expect:

A review/testimony from each participant in the loan that summarizes impressions of the headphone, which can be as detailed (or lack-thereof) as they see fit. While I cannot possibly allow everyone to listen to the Denon's, hopefully the comments from this group of guys will benefit everyone.

What will hopefully result from this:

This is just the beginning. If this loan is successful, I expect to conduct another loan with another piece of my own gear. Hopefully members will have the urge to allow others to audition pieces of gear as well.

Expect an update in the days to come, as I need to finish up some particulars and solidify everything.

Sit back and enjoy, this is going to be interesting to say the least .

hmm, other thoughts, is this strictly going to be headphone rotation?
or other gear as well, once i get some stuff i would have no problem having my other gear going around, seeing as a lot of people in the headphone club have already listened to stock 225s i wouldn't have much to contribute in that sense, but perhaps once i get a nice amp or dac.

No really, there's no trust issue here. Plus our trader reps/other mitigating factors that Aura can disclose [not even I know] prevents that idea from floating into his head.

For this first loan, I must respectfully decline any other entries. The participants were selected 3-4 weeks ago by my estimation. Again though, it is my intention to host several loans if possible, and there will be a good deal more people involved in these as time goes on. There are a few international members that I'm pretty sure will want to get involved as well .

As Jon put it, that should not be a problem. The people that have been chosen have earned the right to be chosen. I have full confidence and trust in all of them .

Should an issue arise in the process of the loan, it will be handled in anyway that is required to remedy the situation. But I'm an optimist, and I do not foresee any such issue occurring.

Excellent question Schubie - the project will not be limited to headphones alone, though as far as shipping goes, it might get a little overboard if we were to send a full-size desktop amp back and forth across that 'states . Anything portable/transportable would work very well and I would very much like to see these become subjects of future loans as well.
