Ok so I've been recording my friends band on my computer for a while. I record using Cool Edit Pro 2.1 on a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS. We used to set it up that it would play one track (guitar vocals etc.) that we had already recorded and then we would play over top of it. Then we'd do it with the next part until we had a full song done.
A problem has come up form this lately. When we go to record with another track playing in the background the computer pulls the output into the input, so instead of the one instrument we get what we've already recorded plus the instrument. So now we can't change amplification, add effects etc. etc. because it is all in one audio file instead of split. I don't know why it started doing this, it was working fine last weekend. Any ideas?

Problem fixed. The "What U Hear" Setting got turned back on by me resting the settings to default. Turned it off and now it works...
